When billionaire corporate raider Micheal Telouse invites Jilly to his five-star bush resort in the Pilanesberg for a week under the pretext of an exclusive, tell-all exposé of his recent acquisition of the country's largest financial services employer, City Capital, she's naturally sceptical. Why would a business tycoon of such notoriety want to be interviewed by an investigative journalist focussed primarily on missing persons and homicides?
Her arrival at the lodge proves unsettling from the start, made even more so when she discovers a boarding pass for a flight to London for the previous occupant of her suite, Lynn Everton, her host's recent girlfriend, who seems to have made an unexpectedly hasty departure from the lodge. With an executive personal assistant who is clearly obsessed with her boss, a love-and-status-struck young woman still hanging around in the hopes of snagging her missing best friend's boyfriend and a very married financial adviser with romantic designs on her host and client in the mix, Jilly begins to suspect that there may be more to Lynn Everton's unforeseen exodus.
But is Jilly herself now also in danger? Inexplicable accidents, unsettling dreams and a generally charged atmosphere amongst the guests at the lodge make her start to think that she may be.
