It takes a certain kind of person to haul freight between the climate controlled domed cities of Mandallass. It takes someone who is cool under pressure, not afraid to bend a few rules, and not too terribly attached to living. Jasced Siever is all of these. Battling sub-freezing temperatures, marauders, and ferocious creatures of unknown origin are all in a day's work for Siever. Having narrowly survived an attack from a Yessen bounty hunter, Siever suddenly finds himself without a gunner, an untenable situation for a transporter on Mandallass. In a bind, he resorts to hiring Faith Berah, a dishonorably discharged military brat whose motives are dubious at best. She quickly pulls him into an adventure where authorities are the enemy, assassins shoot to kill, and things are not always as they seem. Trust is fleeting. The threats are real. With the help of Faith, a sour police detective, and an old smuggling buddy, Siever might just win the day...unless one of them kills him first.
