This is the journal of Javier Borrez, a gifted, and gritty high school senior from Maidenhead, New Jersey. An intelligent rogue, if you will- suffering from an existential crisis about his racial, sexual, social identities, and purpose in life, caused by years of traumatic loneliness. When he found himself sitting alone in a hallway with bloody hands after a hateful fistfight... he decides he's had enough. After much consideration, he resolves that to change his status quo, he must first run away to find himself, master himself, conquer himself, with the world's most ancient and potent psychedelic: Ayahuasca (a DMT laden brew). The problem is that authentic indigenous Ayahuasca ceremonies only occur in the Northern Peruvian Amazon. Javier will brave death and certain madness. Overcoming cops, gangs, kidnappers, and guerillas requires more than heart alone. He'll have to become his own hero, because he is his own enemy.
