Every day, loving parents and caregivers are taken from their families for the simple crime of possessing, selling, or growing a safe, non-toxic plant. The children who love them often face serious social stigma, both from their peers and adults who judge them and their loved ones harshly. These issues can lead to low self-esteem, real damage to their most important relationship, and possibly to the child internalizing the judgements of others (believing they must be bad if their loved one is bad) and thus to acting out.
Although social attitudes about cannabis are changing rapidly, the laws are much slower to be reformed, leaving thousands of otherwise law-abiding citizens incarcerated and labeled as criminals, despite the fact that they never hurt anyone. Stinky Steve is here to help parents, guardians, and other grown-ups talk to kids about why someone they love is in prison for cannabis. By helping the children understand the injustice of cannabis prohibition, Stinky Steve wants to help them feel better about their situation and their loved one's incarceration so that they can begin to heal!
