Serenity knew that fourth grade would be a challenge because in her previous third-grade class, her peers viewed her differently. Serenity was never like the other children in her classroom because she was the only girl of color there. Her parents are prominent and successful business leaders who came from a life of humble beginnings. As the firstborn child to her parents, and the daughter of business owners, Serenity has always had a habit of taking the lead on class projects. Her peers are not accustomed to this type of confidence and as a result they would often refer to her as being bossy.
Serenity was not happy that her confidence and desire to help through leading was being received negatively, so she tries to change by pulling away and staying to herself. She later realizes that she was not bossy, her classmates had a misconception of her.
