At this width the thing that separates a good frame from a bad one is whether it stays quiet, because a king carries two sleepers and every joint has more leverage working on it. This one is built from pine with engineered wood and plywood, and the joints are cut to hold tight rather than to be tightened later, so the frame does not start creaking every time somebody turns over. Eight plywood slats span the platform and spread a mattress evenly across the full width instead of leaving it to sag between widely spaced supports, and they carry a mattress directly, so no box spring is needed.
