English summary: The island of Aegina lies in the middle of the Saronic Gulf between the east coast of the Argolid and the south coast of Attica. Because of its favoured geographical position it was of great strategic and supra-regional economic importance. Consequently, the island and its inhabitants were frequently mentioned in ancient literature. Although these literary sources undoubtedly represent the foundation of archaeological and historical studies, to date a critical and exhaustive study of Aegina has been an unrealised desideratum. Therefore, this volume provides a systematic compilation of all written statements found in Greek and Roman literature, from Homer to Byzantine times, relating to Aegina and its inhabitants. Furthermore, to facilitate judgement a translation and detailed explanations of the context have been added. Finally, data on historical events in chronological order and a systematic and elaborate subject-index complete the volume. Dementsprechend haufig haben die Insel und ihre Einwohner Eingang in die Literatur der klassischen Antike gefunden. Obwohl diese literarischen Zeugnisse zweifellos das Fundament der archaologischen und historischen Erforschung darstellen, bildete die kritische und ausfuhrliche Aufarbeitung der antiken Quellen uber Aigina bislang ein unerfulltes Desiderat. Folglich wird mit der vorliegenden Arbeit erstmals eine systematische Erfassung samtlicher Schriftquellen uber Aigina und seine Einwohner innerhalb der griechischen und romischen Literatur von Homer bis in byzantinische Zeit einschliesslich ihrer Ubersetzung vorgelegt. In Erganzung zu den moglichst nahe am Originaltext gehaltenen Ubersetzungen finden sich kontextbezogene Erklarungen, mit denen das Verstandnis, die Beurteilung und die Einschatzung der Stellen erleichtert werden. Im Anschluss an die zahlreichen Textstellen ermoglichen die Auflistung mythischer und historischer Ereignisse in chronologischer Reihenfolge sowie der systematische und detaillierte Sachindex eine effiziente Suche nach gewunschten Informationen.
