Part 2 starts two weeks before the summer solstice when Hunter Sarduk'h reaches his clan, camped in the northern portion of the Sumarkh Plateau, first meeting with his half-sister, Healer Larann, who tells him two Outlanders have been living with the clan since late winter, teaching their religion and corrupting some of their members with their toxic beliefs. Then, two days before the summer solstice, Hunters Tren and Madeh, with Hunts-man Raff and his family, finally reach the gathering of the Vondarii clans at the southern end of the Lady's lake, while a day north the five Mirii from Zerren's Gate Hold stop early to rest, their journey delayed after one of their members had been severely injured by a hunting salkinn.
