Werewolf Isolde is a Lawspeaker, born to exercise law and justice over other Weres. Inevitably, this brings her into conflict with the police and the oppressive Bureau of Occult Affairs, set up to regulate magic and Weres. When a friend is accused of contaminating a human sacrifice, Isolde finds herself caught up in a murky world of criminal magic. Together with the reckless elf Declan and his enigmatic friend, Michael, Isolde has less than 60 hours to uncover a conspiracy to destroy the Were packs. As she tries to discover what has led some Weres to uncharacteristic attacks on humans, Isolde is drawn into illegal activities which threaten her status a Were judge and result in danger to her colleagues. Her attempt to save her friend leads to a fight for her life with her mate and with her pack leader. To protect the packs from genocide, she has to find a way to survive.
