Alanora is a country with few rules, a place divided into producers and consumers with only one force that can keep the peace; assassins. When someone is wronged, only murder can make it right.
Even amongst the most vicious and skilled, The Black Emperor is in a class of his own, a seemingly unstoppable force that quickly made a name for himself as one of the best. To even those closest to him, his skills are seem supernaturally charged. After years of little challenge he has turned reckless and violent, leaving more bodies behind than necessary. He has grown apathetic in his power, believing he stands alone due to his extraordinary abilities.
Soon though, Alanora will be thrown into turmoil after an ordinarily boring job brings with it a new powerful enemy not only for The Black Emperor, but the entire country.
Now, The Black Emperor will have to rely on those he had once disregarded as a new guild of assassins emerges with skills and abilities that seem to rival the man himself. His success will depend on whether or not he can shake himself free of his own apathy.
