Almost two decades ago, Cherry de la Torre, a Canadian mother of Filipino descent, wrote the first draft of "The Cashew Nut Wish" after Christian, her three-year-old son of Filipino-Caribbean heritage, came home upset after being bullied. from the Philippines is incorporated into this original story set in High Park, Toronto. Co-author Christian lends his writer's voice when as a result of being bullied he makes a wish which his mother dubbed a "cashew nut wish." Hence this book was born.
