British sleuth Patrick Dawlish has his doubts when a case takes him into the dark side of spiritualism in this entrancing Golden Age mystery. Patrick Dawlish's wife hasn't fallen prey to his charms, but she does believe that Horden is in danger. That's how Dawlish gets drawn into the strangest investigation of his crime-solving career. While harboring Horden at his home, Dawlish quickly learns that jealous spouses are the least of his worries. Nothing is beyond those pursuing Horden-even murder. Dawlish may not believe in the otherworldly, but he's very familiar with the avarice and evil that exist in the here and now . . .
