Recipes for your first time away from home- which can be used easily in the microwave, hot plate, toaster oven, crockpot, or no cooking required. With bonus recipes and fun facts included too! As we all know eating out all the time, especially at fast-food restaurants, is not always the healthiest choice. This book was inspired after having kids in college and a barrage of phone calls regarding, "Hey, Mom, how do you cook this... or that...". I had taught them not to eat out all the time but found that they were not quite fully prepared to cook everything they liked on their own, as I had hoped they would be. Also, I found myself taking for granted things that I assumed they already knew. For example, how long to boil an egg. These "hiccups," if you will, inspired me to write down everyday recipes for my kids. Those recipes soon turned into this book. Also, taking into consideration that not all college students who live in dorms have access to a kitchen, I have created this recipe book to include "alternative" cooking equipment - such as using a crockpot, for example. They are, however, designed to be interchangeable if there is a kitchen handy, in which standard equipment can be used. Besides, there are many recipes that include "no cooking required." Though there is no substitute to parental advice, along with these recipes I have included information that any parent would want their children to know, such as safe handling instructions, what to do in case of a fire, how to treat a minor scrape or burn and I've included tidbits of other useful information. My goal is to make things a little easier for the students as well as their parents, so they can concentrate on their studies. Though inspired by my college kids, these recipes are not necessarily limited to just students. People living in campers, tiny houses, economy apartments, new to cooking, or simply just do not have the time to cook a full-blown meal over the stove (there are a lot of crockpot recipes) will also find this book useful. Your college years are meant to be enjoyed, so get creative and have fun with these recipes. Bon Appétit and happy eating!
