Following a catastrophic accident with the mark 10 Hadron Collider Europe now occupies a slightly different reality to the rest of the world(what else is new) The planet is now a chimera of the two realities, in Europe revenants (the whole range) are now an everyday fact and society has integrated in varying degrees.
