Malcolm and Lyndsay had travelled down to purchase a small 'lock-up-and-leave' townhouse on the banks of the Rio Ebro in Catalunya to further Malcolm's dream, where every year for most of the previous decade he had undertaken his annual pilgrimage to fish this mighty river. They left a few days later having purchased a dilapidated and tired old finca, which nestled in the centre of a spectacular valley of olive terracing. The story isn't just one of DIY, it tells you a little about what life was like amongst these wonderful rural folk, how they made some lifetime friends and learnt much about an area steeped in history from the ravages of the civil war some 70 years earlier.
