If most species of octopus are quite scary, consider this one an exception. The Flapjack Octopus is far from being scary - it's harmless and it's cute.
The Flapjack Octopus is a species of octopus that's also called Flapjack Devilfish. However, it only looks similar to a devilfish, but it is not related to it.
Because of its flat appearance, it's referred to as Flapjack or Pancake Devilfish. Being flat also makes it the most compressed (or flat) species of cephalopod (octopuses and squids are members of this group or class).
The body of a Flapjack Octopus is gelatin-like, so it's soft and gooey. The shades of their body can be anywhere from transparent to dark red - so there's a pinkish shade there somewhere, too.
As with all octopuses, the Flapjack Octopus also has eight legs (octo actually means eight). Their legs are joined together by a thin flesh, so their legs are webbed. Having webbed legs also makes the octopus seem like an open umbrella when it's moving.
