"The Garden of Ed" is a science fiction story about an American astronaut who is pulled into a parallel universe. But more than that, it is a would-be political manifesto, recounting many new ideas for hopefully strengthening American democracy and governance. Though shared as a fictional account from the vantage points of multiple first person narrators, the astronaut encounters a different United States that has employed some outside-the-box thinking in their approach to politics, thanks to inspiration drawn from a seemingly holy relic....the modern incarnation of the original tree from the Garden of Eden, or in this case, the Garden of Ed. The proper names are slightly different in this universe, and so are the vocal leaders, who also are influenced by heroes from our collective, ancient history. "The Garden of Ed" is a Christian themed science fiction story about reshaping American politics in a very real and at least possibly foreseeable way.
