Gandhi's life story is one of the simplest biographies we know of a great man of the world, ancient and modern. However, despite its simplicity, this biography contains a number of contradictions rarely known about the life of a great man. The man was "modern" in his time and education. He studied at the most modern universities, lived in the most modern English environments, and was educated in his country and in Europe in the modern style. However, you would consider him a medieval old man if you heard, for example, his opinion on medicine and treatment. He refused to have the smallpox vaccine administered to his body because it was taken from the body of a cow. He would tell those around him that they were exempt from taking this vaccine, but he did not consider it permissible for himself, even though he did not deny its preventative effect. He did not accept surgery in prison until he saw the prison warden trembling before him and fearing the consequences if he died while he was a prisoner, because of the negative impact his death in prison would have on the reputation of the British state. - Abbas Mahmoud Al-Akkad
