Excerpt from The Heidelberg Catechism: In Its Newest Light
This work on the Heidelberg catechism is intended to give the new light that has been thrown on the cate chism, mainly within the last fifty years,-since the Ter centenary Jubilee was held, in 1863, by the Reformed Church in the United States. However, it also includes some light previous to that time, but which does not seem to have attracted the attention of the American writers on the catechism.
A number of the chapters have been delivered as Addresses during the 3soth Anniversary of the Catechism. The form of address, therefore, appears in a number of places, especially in the last two chapters. Because de livered as Addresses, there is occasionally a reduplication of thought and expression.
