Harry White was born in Dublin in 1958. He was educated in Dublin and Toronto, where he was awarded the University of Toronto's E. J. Pratt medal for poetry in 1984. He has been Professor of Music at University College Dublin since 1993 and is well known for his work as a musicologist and cultural historian. Among his many publications are
