A Symm Window allows an overview of Equilibran, the working world of Mother Nature, a parallel universe whose inhabitants are the architects, builders and most importantly, the carers of all her creations. Tom belongs to a line of families gifted as guardians by the overworked Mother Nature to help her ensure symmetry and balance between her worlds. Each member of the family line has a responsibility to help her, but only a Majestet firstborn, such as Tom, has the gift of seeing through the window. These firstborns from 12 years old until the day before their 20th birthday can be influenced by a few flawed progeny, known as Squirrels, and an even dire faction called Magpies. For varying reasons they cannot see through the window and kidnap firstborns who can. These unfortunate children become the Stolen. Tom, as did his father before him, has made it his life's work to save the stolen Symm's. He is 19. Rosie, can see through her Symm window when she dreams and from a very young age writes down what she sees as adventure stories that are all about Laura, Maddison and Alfie who live in Equilibran. She is now on the verge of getting her works published and revealing her gift to the world and totally oblivious to the danger she is putting herself in. She is just 16. Mother Nature's father the Sun is sending a delegation from both of his daughter's worlds, on a mission to help her achieve back her balance and make the world whole again. They just don't know it yet!
