This book aims to explore the differences between the ordinary and the noble human by comparing them and delving into the depths of human existence. Starting from the ancient Greek philosophers to modern thinkers such as Max Scheler and Nietzsche, we examine the concepts of ordinary and noble humans.According to the ancient Greek philosophers, ordinary humans are simple, selfish, and insatiable beings who only live to fulfill their practical needs. On the other hand, noble humans are regarded as those who strive for moral and intellectual excellence, living for the sake of the good, the true, and the beautiful. Max Scheler argued that noble humans have a "hierarchy of values" derived from their desire to fulfill moral obligations and to lead an ideal life, while ordinary humans have a lower-level "hierarchy of appreciation" that places importance only on what is valuable to themselves. Nietzsche, with his philosophy based on the master-slave morality dichotomy, distinguished between the noble and the ordinary humans. He considered noble humans to be strong and creative beings, while ordinary humans are individuals driven by feelings of inferiority, resentment, and envy.Drawing on these different philosophical perspectives, this book aims to uncover the differences between ordinary and noble humans. By understanding these differences, we can delve deeper into the human experience, facilitate better understanding among people, and help create a more empathetic world. The book consists of only one chapter, entitled "The Ordinary Human," which is based on a portion of my master's thesis. It forms the core of this book.
