When I decided to put this family history together I was only intending to compile some facts and figures. I was bored after foot surgery and began looking on Ancestry. I was surprised at some of the stuff I found and thought others might find it interesting so I figured I'd make it into a book to make it easier for those interested to find the information. As I looked deeper and deeper into the family though, I began to want to know who these people behind the names and dates were. As I got to the timeframe when pictures started appearing I would look into the eyes of those distant relatives and wonder what they were thinking. Were they good people? Did they enjoy life? Did they spoil their kids? I found getting to "know" these ancestors of mine fascinating. It made me feel a bit more connected in some weird way. This was when I realized that I didn't just want facts and figures with a few pictures here and there. At some point, myself and the people I am putting this together for will no longer be around to talk about the family we are now ad have been for the last sixty or so years. I realized I want my grandchildren, and their children, to know who we were. To know how we lived, loved, and laughed. I have always heard such negative about our family history, especially about the Kehl side of the family, yet in researching everything I found so much that was wonderful. This made me realize how easy It is to pass down the bad stories from generation to generation and how easy it is to lose all those moments that create the heart of a family.
