Porter (New Testament, McMaster Divinity College) and contributors examine the letters of St. Paul to find whether he wrote all parts of all the letters, if he wrote other letters not now in the canon, how his letters came into the canon, and whether there are interpolations in his canonical letters. Essay topics include the pastoral epistles, apostolic authority, and the development of the Pauline scriptures; the function of the pastoral letters; the possibility of an epistle to the Laodiceans; a comparison of the Hellenistic letter-formula and the Pauline letter-scheme; an assessment of when and how the canon was compiled; the disputed and undisputed letters, and which parts are truly the writings of St. Paul; and interpolation of the letters now considered canonical.
