Sonia is a registered blind person of Afro-Caribbean origin. After losing her sight as a teenager, she went to a school for the blind, where she learned how to type, read Braille and to use a long cane, among other things. When she left school, she went to a college for the blind where she trained as a shorthand-audio typist. On leaving college, she went to work for her local authority.
After working in Local Government for ten years, she returned to full-time education. When she completed her English degree and a teacher training course, for further, adult and higher education, she did a variety of voluntary work. It was during this time that she picked up writing again. She wrote short stories, plays, and a novel among other things.
After hearing a couple of items on the radio that reminded the author of stories she had written, she had a psychic experience in which she was led to believe if she got in touch with the radio station concerned, somebody would contact her. She made contact, but nobody answered her communications. Does this mean that she interpreted the experience wrongly, or was she right? Whatever the case may have been, the story did not end here. N.B. Most of the names of places and of people have been changed in this book.
