The Uprising of the Insects takes its subject not from the distant future, nor do its heroes travel to an unknown planet, but it is set in the present day, in Budapest. And because readers follow the protagonists on their strange adventures, they come to realize that fantastic adventures are a real possibility. The modern world is no less interesting than that of historic periods: all you have to do is look at it with interest and curiosity. The idea for the novel came from a truly fantastic branch of science which today is highly controversial, and in breathtaking scenes of unmatched suspense, the writer traces the disappearance of the brilliant brain surgeon Dr. Zoltán Perjés, and also raises an important question: what happens when science falls into the wrong hands?
