This is not the only universe. Each conscious decision that you make creates a new, parallel universe in which you made the other decision. Cameron MacLellan is a theoretical physicist who studies these parallel universes. He learns that billions of these universes are created every minute...and they are taking up space. Too much space. As more and more people create new universes, there is finally no more room. The universes begin to collide with one another...with devastating results. Thousands of people fall into comas or die as the very bounds of the universe-of all universes-are tested. Jesse Dwade is a New York shop owner with a secret...he occasionally shifts into "dream worlds." Worlds which are much like his own...but somehow different. As the real world around him starts to fall apart, he realizes that these are not dreams, they are parallel universes. Now it's up to Cameron to help Jesse learn to control his ability. To shift intentionally to these parallel worlds to try to stop the coming devastation which threatens to rip apart the very fabric of this universe. But to stop the expansion, he has to slow down the creation of new universes. And that means, eliminating what creates them...people.
