A young Initiate faces an ancient beast! In the 1920s, the Cult of Mithras trained Stefani to hunt unearthly terrors, so her first assignment seems easy. Be the secretary to a British fashion designer on a dig to Egypt. Determine if the designer is a sorceress associated with a rival cult. Leaving her hometown of Denver for the first time, the assignment is even better than she imagined. Trains and ships, parties and shows-it is all delectable delights. But she has no idea what awaits her in Cairo. An effete colonial administration battles a fiery rebellion in a city where the wrong turn can put you in the power of a dark djinn. A sorceress who speaks the language of blood makes sanguine sacrifices at will. And in the desert, a being imprisoned millennia before the time of the first pharaohs hungers for a powerful soul like Stefani's.
