Many of these pieces tell the "ugly." But sometimes we have to let our ugly show. That's what I feel the Blues does. It lets the ugly show, and then it dares to sing in spite of the ugly. Sometimes, I let my ugly show, and then I dare to write about it. Sometimes America let's her ugly show, and then we dare to sing about it, write about it, paint about it. That's the task of the artist; to be daring enough to expose the ugly. Give yourself permission to let your ugly show. Then dare to sing about it! It IS true what they say; "THE BLUES IS ALRIGHT!"
