Treasure is the sixth novel in the Sean Murphy series. As with the first five, it is short and can be read in an afternoon on the beach.
One of Sean's rottweilers (three young men previously assigned to guard Sean after an assignment went sideways) has gone missing in South America. Initially assigned to a contract supporting an Argentine company recovering sunken treasure, the missing man soon finds himself entangled with a Nazi cabal seeking the unification of South American Aryan groups. The Secretaría de Inteligencia, Argentina's secret service, convinces the missing rottweiler to work for them as an embedded spy. What can go wrong? Anderson dispatches Sean to find his missing comrade. Sean discovers the sunken treasure is Nazi gold dispatched from Germany in early 1945 to fund fleeing German Nazi leaders. At Sean's request via Samuel, Mossad steps in and, and with MI-6 support, takes the gold. Held captive by the Adler Bruderschaft, Sean and his companions are unexpectedly freed by the defection of an inner member of the Aryans. In Germany, Samuel finds he is related to these Nazi, sharing a great-great-grandfather. In the end, Sarah and Sean celebrate with a long-planned, often delayed, getaway to a remote Caribbean Island.
