Eleven years later he joined the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Democrat and then moved on to the Associated Press in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1942. He returned to the Philadelphia office after the war. The AP sent him to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1955, Louisville, Kentucky in 1959 and finally the New York office in 1962. He remained there until his 1978 retirement.
