This third book in the series, after
Diary of a Buddhist Cat
and
Our Cats in Amsterdam
, sees Freddie and Gemma return home after their escapades in Amsterdam.
They try to return to normal but this proves difficult once the cats find out that a tree in their local park is going to be chopped down. Freddie and Gemma organise the local birds, Rufus the squirrel, and a recently arrived local cat called Oliver to help them occupy the tree. Not only do the cats and their friends save the tree, their exploits are recorded by television stations in the UK and the Benelux countries. The cats are soon receiving dozens of written invitations to environmental protests across the country. Their crow friends in Europol arrive and suggest some work for Freddie and Gemma in Europoort, helping find the victims of people trafficking. The plan is for the cats to visit an environmental protest near the Euromast before stealthily heading into the docks. Their human parents, Mary and John, will visit the Van Gogh Museum at the same time and they'll all meet in the evening at the Rijksmuseum. As you can imagine not everything goes according to plan. Freddie and Gemma have to spring into action to prevent the successful kidnapping of an industrialist's daughter.
