As Erica and Seth get on with life after a bizarre and troubling beginning, more comes their way, promising to push them to the limit. Erica's real father has called for her and nothing she does will stop him from taking what he feels is rightfully his. She's taken from the safety of her new family and thrown into the clutches of a family she never knew she had, and would've never wanted, leaving her to fight for her sanity as much as her security.
With her whereabouts unknown, Seth and Jarius search and struggle to find any clue to who took her and why. They enlist the help of people from Erica's past, hoping to shake loose meaning from her mother's deranged writings and a slew of artwork that points to enigmatic rituals and Erica's true origins.
New allies are acquired and loved ones of the past prove to hold the answers to troubling questions, all working toward an end that will be anything but easy. Erica does her best to hold tight to the promise that Seth will come after her and hopefully, finally, be done with the lunacy of their heritages and find a way to live in peace, but that might be too much to ask.
