When seen through the lens of classical physics (the 17th- and 18th-century physics of Newton and Galileo), miraculous events like curing a friend's cancer without medical help, walking on water, or moving physical objects with your mind alone are considered violations of basic physical laws and regarded as the work of gods and goddesses in heaven. We know better today.
When we view the same events through the lens of quantum physics, they are no longer viewed as violations of physical law originating in heaven but as natural phenomena operating within the fulfillment of known scientific principles. In other words, while those events remain wondrous, they are no longer considered to be miracles. What that implies for humanity cannot be overstated. It means that all adult, healthy individuals have the potential of performing what traditionally have been considered miracles. And that is a discovery destined to change the world.
Paul Breer
is a retired college professor who earned his B.A. (Economics) and Ph.D. (Sociology) at Harvard University. He has used his retirement to write books on topics as varied as classical music and spiritual enlightenment. A work now in progress deals with the role luck plays in human lives and the steps we can take to mitigate its impact on individual outcomes. Breer currently lives in the mountains of western Colorado.
