"What do you do when you pray for years for a child and the child God gives you is handicapped?" That was the opening line for a sermon that the preacher entitled "God's White Elephant Gifts". That made an impression with me. So when I let the kids talk me into compiling the stories I told at Christmas into a book, I chose that for a title. We've all had things happen that we don't understand. I don't even understand why God sent His son to die for me.
When the children were young we started a family tradition of having a Christmas story every night for the 30 days before Christmas. Some of these stories are original, some are retold from other good storytellers. It is my hope that you find some pleasure in reading some of our family's favorite stories.
