Size: Paperback

The author takes a trip to his past from the origins and comes to the conclusion that “he should not have been born”. Son of a bourgeois family of Norwegian and Swedish origin on the mother's side linked to the shipping industry and to diplomatic work in Spain, who fled to Norway at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Grandpa Ness remains in Spain where he saves many lives and was decorated for this act in Norway in 1939. The family hides from him the identity of the biological father from whom he takes the surname, one of the oldest in Norway, and he lives the trauma of a fake father who mistreats him, who gives him another surname, in the face of his mother's indifference. At the age of 17, he discovers who the biological father is, who became a famous experimental sound composer, who had previously renounced all relationship with this unexpected child. Finally, he achieves freedom from his family, overcomes the trauma through his knowledge of literature, philosophy, arts, music, and two doctorates from the Universities of Oslo and Bergen. Reviving from a diving accident in the North Sea is an almost inexplicable experience. The travel adventure will go hand in hand with the writing of essays and novels. The attraction to the south will take him back to Spain already in the 80s and also to Uruguay, after having lived in Holland, Switzerland, England, and traveled throughout much of the world, until returning again to the Spanish coast and, specifically, in Port Bou, attracted by the figure of Walter Benjamin and by the place of his death. At the end of life, he makes an abstract of a journey and a positive assessment of what he has done.
